The Big Climb experience

Featured Image

More than a stair climb. A climb with purpose.

Big Climb is Blood Cancer United’s premier stair climb fundraising series, bringing together thousands of participants each year to take on iconic stadiums and skyscrapers in support of blood cancer patients and their families.
Whether you’re climbing with coworkers, family, friends, or as an individual, Big Climb combines a personal challenge with a powerful purpose—helping fund research, patient support, and advocacy while creating hope for those impacted by blood cancer.

What to Expect on Climb Day

Arrive at base camp
The day begins at Base Camp, the heart of Big Climb. Pick up your packet, connect with teammates, visit the Why I Climb wall, celebrate fundraising milestones, and soak in the energy before your climb begins.
Join the opening ceremony
Before each wave starts, climbers come together for a brief but powerful ceremony that connects us to the mission, honors those impacted by blood cancer, and reminds us why every step matters.
Take the climb
When it’s your turn, you’ll head to the start line alongside fellow climbers. Along the way, you’ll be encouraged by volunteers, inspired by stories of hope and resilience, and challenged to keep moving toward the top.
Participants of all ages and fitness levels take part in Big Climb each year. Whether you’re racing to the finish or taking it one step at a time, every climber is part of the experience.
Pause to remember
At many events, climbers pause at a dedicated remembrance area to honor loved ones and reflect on the impact of blood cancer. In skyscraper climbs, this moment takes place on the 9th floor, recognizing that every nine minutes someone in the United States loses their life to a blood cancer.
Celebrate at the finish
Cross the finish line, receive your medal, take photos, and celebrate your accomplishment alongside survivors, caregivers, teammates, and supporters. Whether you’re looking out over a city skyline or standing on a stadium field, you’ve earned the view.
