I am here today with a deep sense of gratitude and hope, as I embark on my journey as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Visionary of the Year (VOY) campaign.
I am involved with this campaign because I am a survivor of acute nonlymphocytic leukemia. As a high school freshman, I was diagnosed with this rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. The months that followed were filled with uncertainty. Through the grace of research, expertise of my doctors, support of family and friends, and armed with faith on my side, I received experimental chemotherapy and a life-saving bone marrow transplant—but not all patients are as fortunate. That is why I am dedicating myself to this campaign: to raise critical funds for research, to support patients, and to ensure that no one must face blood cancer without hope.
i have been nominated to serve as a candidate competing for the honored title. The purpose of my letter is to humbly ask for your support of LLS’s mission in its efforts to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle this disease.
From March 6th – May 16 th , Team Jason’s goal is to raise $50,000 with an ambitious stretch goal of $100,000, for the VOY campaign. All proceeds directly support LLS in their unwavering pursuit of a world free from blood cancers.
Over the last five years, LLS helped advance 75% of the almost 100 FDA-approved blood cancer treatment options. Many of these LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. They’re even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.
I have no doubt that this is an organization that is making an impact with the dollars it raises, and I’m proud to be
associated with LLS.
