So what the heck is Sisu ? It's a Finnish expression meaning persistence, doggedness, grit, bravery, resiience, and hardiness.These words describe out hero, Art Riihimaki.
Art was my friend, mentor, and teammate with Team in Training since 2010; the first time I rode around Lake Tahoe with him. I man of few words who still managed to write a nine page speech for our inspiration dinner :-)).
Art passed away on November 1st, All Saints Day. The next day a group of us were going on our annual apple fritter ride. The ride has been renamed the Art Riihimaki Fritter Ride. Most of the riders were part of Team in Training so we wore our Energizer Bunnies on our helmets.
 
Art's family showed up to send us off. It was a bit of a healing day for all of us.
This will be an important ride for us this. One of our members has broken away from the peleton. We will meet him at the finish line one day but until then we will carry on his mission to find a cure.
