Why I joined the team and am supporting Adam Neary who is running for LLS Man of the Year!
My experience with cancer has been painful and joyful, long and arduous. Two of my cousins, Zondra Hart and Anita McChesney, lost their battles with cancer but my second cousin, Kayleigh Coupe Mayo, continues to win her battle. Zondra died from uterine cancer at age 51. Anita died from breast cancer at age 56. The presence of so much cancer in this generation of my family prompted some members to be tested for the BRAC gene to which results were negative. This type of testing and the negative result brings much hope to the other women of my family, including my own daughter. My second cousin, Kayleigh Coupe Mayo, is a 2-time cancer survivor and continues to win her fight against germ cell cancer. This is an extremely rare cancer that usually is only found in males. Kayleigh has fought long and hard including using stem cell research and transplants in her battle. Lastly, I have a very close friend right here in Guilderland who was diagnosed in May 2017 with Chronic Lymphocytc Leukemia (CLL). To this day my friend continues to monitor blood cell counts and remains very hopeful.
The investment in cancer research and in the search for a cancer cure is vital to my family, my friends and to other families who are currenting fighting their battles. In honor of those who have fought the fight and won and who have fought the fight and lost, please help the CureOne team raise as much as possible over the next 10 weeks in support of LLS and beating blood cancers once and for all.
Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate! All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org.
