Every year, firefighters from around the world come together to take on the ultimate challenge: climbing the stairs of Seattle's Columbia Center to drive forward the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). With every step, they raise critical funds for lifesaving blood cancer research, free patient support, and advocacy for better healthcare policies.
The Firefighter Stairclimb is the world’s largest on-air stairclimb competition, exclusively for career, volunteer, and retired firefighters. This event is one of a kind, challenging firefighters to climb over 1,300 steps in full turnout gear to honor and support the blood cancer community. It's a tribute to the resilience of both our heroes and the patients and families they're climbing for.
This year, you are part of a powerful new chapter. We are becoming Blood Cancer United—a bold new name and look that reflect the strength and unity of our mission. For this event, you’ll continue to see both the LLS and Blood Cancer United names until climb day in March 2026—but no matter the name, you’re climbing for the same lifesaving cause and the same unstoppable community.
Every dollar raised through the Firefighter Stairclimb fuels our mission to cure all blood cancers and improve quality of life for patients and their families. These funds help us:
