In August of 2019, when Miles (Milo) was three years old, his parents took him to the doctor because his neck lymph nodes were enlarged and his throat was hurting. The doctor did a strep test and it came back negative. A month later, his lymph nodes were still big, so they went back to their pediatrician, and they did labs and an exam, and everything came back normal. In October, Milo had an ultrasound that showed enlarged lymph nodes, with the largest being 5cm. Again they did blood work, which was normal. They did two weeks of antibiotics in November and if that did not work, they would do a biopsy.
In December, Milo got a cold and his cough got worse and worse and they called to schedule a biopsy. On December 19, 2019, the biopsy showed he was positive for lymphoma. Milo was diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma.
Milo went through 4 intense rounds of chemo and a primer round and endless intrathecal chemotherapies, countless scans, lumbar punctures.
After four rounds of intense chemo, Milo had a PET scan to determine if he had any remaining cancerous activity. On March 27, 2020, Milo and his family got the fantastic news that Milo is in remission and cancer-free.
The Teskey family is so grateful for LLS, MACC Fund, and CHOW, the staff who treated him, and all our friends and family who support Milo’s mission. Every cancer patient is a hero. They teach us to be strong, preserve and enjoy every second we get on this beautiful earth.
