Our goal is to make this hub feel as fun and inviting as possible featuring colors in the park that are the favorite colors of our honored heroes.

WHAT IS A MINECRAFT BUILD COMPETITION?
In a build competition, participants rely on their own creativity and style to build structures within a specific time frame that align with a designated theme. These builds are then judged on certain criteria by event officials for any recognition or prizing. Build competitions are widespread throughout the Minecraft community as a fun way for players to challenge themselves and meet others.
WHAT IS MINECRAFT?
Minecraft is a sandbox video game released in 2011 where players enter an infinite, blocky 3D world to collect materials, craft tools, and build structures. Because there are so many game modes and modifications available, players have a large amount of freedom to play however they want, with whomever they want. Thanks to its seemingly endless flexibility, many consider Minecraft to be one of the greatest video games of all time!
WHAT IS MINEHUT?
Minehut is a Minecraft server hosting service that offers a wide variety of tools to help players build their own private servers — much like how one may want to host and build their own website. Minehut’s lobby is located on its own server in Minecraft, where players can log in, chat with other players, and find other servers to join.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT?
The purpose of the LLS Build Competition is twofold: to raise general awareness for the fight against blood cancers, and to give isolated, immunocompromised cancer patients a fun and safe space to play with each other. When players enter this unique Minehut-hosted server, which will be built as a virtual amusement park, they will encounter non-player characters (NPCs) that represent real-life patients and survivors sharing their personal stories. These players will then have the opportunity to build for a very engaging and impactful theme: a representation of what they plan to do once they beat their cancer.
WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO START PLAYING MINECRAFT?
We recognize that there is no “right” age for kids to start playing video games or Minecraft, so we recommend doing some research before making any decision. If you have younger kids who are interested, we suggest keeping the game in a common area or play alongside them to supervise. For the LLS Build Competition, we have disabled the in-game chat feature and removed the “mobs” from the gameplay experience to make sure everyone is free of distractions
IS MINECRAFT CONSIDERED EDUCATIONAL?
Games like Minecraft that allow for exploration and creative expression can be good for learning because they stimulate critical thinking, problem-solving, and learning how things work together.
IS MINECRAFT VIOLENT?
Like a lot of video games, Minecraft can have aspects of the game where there is violence but does Minecraft offers multiple modes of play: Adventure, Creative, and Survival, that along with levels of difficulty, can determine the experience for a player while presenting challenges and obstacles. The creative mode gameplay is considered to not have any violence.
CAN YOU CHAT WITH STRANGERS IN THE BUILD COMPETITION?
No. The Build Challenge will not have the chat feature activated.
WILL THERE BE ANY MOBS IN THIS CHALLENGE?
The Build Competition Server is designed to allow you to build distraction-free so no Mobs will be present in the server.
