My name is Salvatore Messina. I am a nineteen-year-old who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on May 26, 2021. Hearing the doctors inform my family and me of such devastating news was something I never would have imagined. Until recently, I never realized just how quickly my life could change. After receiving this news I immediately started getting my treatments so I am still processing all of this. Without the support of my family, friends, and girlfriend I would not be able to get through this difficult time; however, the journey is not over.
I plan on doing as much as I can to spread awareness to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I want to try to help others in my position the way that those around me have helped me. I want to be able to provide support and strength that I know is needed to get through this.
I am currently a sophomore at Temple University studying sports management. Before that, I graduated from Philadelphia Performing Arts: String Theory High School in 2020. I have worked as a Game Night Attendant for the Philadelphia 76ers for multiple seasons; and of course have worked at my family's store, Pastificio. Once my treatments have ended, I plan on getting back into all of these things and working harder than ever. This journey has opened my eyes to so many things, and will only make me stronger. I am more motivated than ever to accomplish all of my goals no matter what gets in my way! Thank you for all of the love and support!
