Many of you know I've done the Big Climb several times in the past. Being pediatric chemo certified and later working with adult cancer patients, I wanted to be a part of finding new treatments for everyone.
In 2024, it has taken on a new meaning for me. I've been diagnosed with hi risk Smoldering Multiple Myeloma (SMM) - a "pre" cancer that within 2 years has a 50% chance of converting to full blown myeloma. I am one of the lucky ones as I feel fine but require every 3 month follow-ups/labwork with a hematologist/oncologist. I continue to do all that I love (hiking, biking, half marathons, being with friends/family and of course all my animals).
Please will you join my husband and me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. We will be climbing the 1311 steps up to the top of the Columbia tower in Seattle. Joe and I are so grateful for any and all support especially the good wishes to make it up ALL those stairs!

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
